The Amazon Product Description Editor That Matches Your Title Keywords
Most tools generate descriptions and hope. We score how well yours covers the keywords already in your title, the same keywords Amazon's ranking algorithm (widely called A10) uses to decide what you rank for. Free, no signup, 50+ marketplaces.
Paste your title. Write your description. We'll score the match.
Every keyword in your title should appear once or twice in your description. Zero mentions wastes an indexed keyword. Three or more triggers our overuse flag. We'll show you which ones to add, which to dial back, and which are dialed in.

What does an Amazon product description editor do?
Sellers confuse three tools constantly. Here's what each one does.
An Amazon product description editor is a tool that formats the long-form text block on your Amazon listing, the one below the bullet points, using the limited formatting Amazon accepts. A good editor previews how the description renders on a live Amazon page, scores how well it matches your title keywords, and exports clean HTML you can paste directly into Seller Central.
Most "Amazon product description tools" on the market are AI generators that write copy from scratch. Sequence's editor works the other way. It audits the description you've already written (or one a generator produced) against the keywords already in your title, because those are the keywords Amazon's ranking algorithm indexes first. Mismatch your title and description, and you waste indexed keyword coverage on every SKU.
| What it is | Description Editor (this tool) | AI Description Generator | A+ Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Format + audit existing copy | Write copy from scratch | Build image-heavy modules below the fold |
| Output | Clean HTML for description field | Plain-text paragraphs | Module-based visual layouts (locked to Brand Registry) |
| Keyword matching | Title-keyword density audit | No title-keyword comparison | Visual only, no text indexing |
| Lives where on the listing? | Product description (above the fold on mobile, below the fold on desktop) | Same field as the editor | Below the description, brand storytelling zone |
| Required for SEO? | Yes. The description field is indexed. | Output goes into the description field | A+ replaces the description visually on desktop, but the description text still indexes. |
How do you use the Sequence product description editor?
Total time: 8 minutes. Total cost: zero.
Paste your exact title
Copy the title straight from Amazon, not from your spec sheet. We strip stop words, extract individual keywords plus two-word phrases, and surface the terms Amazon can index.
Write or paste your description
Use a category template to start, paste what you have, or write fresh. Use the toolbar for headings, bullets, and bold. It only outputs tags Amazon accepts.
Watch the match score climb
Click chips under "Missing" to insert keywords at your cursor. Dial back any "Overused" keyword (three or more mentions) to avoid keyword-stuffing flags.
Copy the clean HTML, then paste it in Seller Central
Open the HTML Code tab, copy, then paste into the product description field in Seller Central (or your flat file). Don't paste from Word. It carries hidden formatting characters that break Amazon's parser.
What does your match score mean?
A high match score doesn't guarantee ranking. Here's how to read your results and what to do next.
Match Score (0–100%)
What it measures: The percentage of keywords from your title that appear at least once in your description.
Target score: 80% or higher. A score below 60% means you've left title keywords out of the description entirely.
Not a ranking guarantee: Match score is SEO hygiene, not a ranking lever. A 100% match on a weak title doesn't rank. Match score matters most when your title itself contains the keywords your customers actually search for.
Keywords Used
What it shows: How many title keywords appear in your description, compared to total title keywords detected.
Reading the number: 8/10 means 8 of your 10 title keywords made it into the description. The two missing (shown below) are gaps in indexed keyword coverage.
What's ideal: 80% or higher, which is the same target stated above. If some keywords don't fit naturally, they probably don't belong in your title either. Skip them.
Missing Keywords
What they are: Title keywords that don't appear anywhere in your description.
Why they matter: When A10 indexes your description, it expects to find the keywords from your title. Gaps signal weak title-description alignment, which can cap ranking potential.
How to fix it: Click the chip under "Missing" to insert the keyword at your cursor. Read the sentence after insertion — if it doesn't make sense, your title keyword might not be the right fit for the description content.
Overused Keywords (3+ mentions)
Red flag: A keyword appearing three or more times in a 2,000-character description reads as keyword stuffing.
What happens: Severe overuse (5+ mentions) can suppress ranking or downrank the listing entirely. Moderate overuse (3–4 mentions) usually just wastes opportunity on filler text.
Fix it: Delete or rephrase sentences with the repeated keyword. If "coffee maker" appears 4 times, replace two with "brewer," "coffeemaker," or "machine." Amazon matches close variants.
What HTML tags does Amazon allow in a product description?
Anything else gets stripped, sometimes silently and sometimes with a listing flag. Sequence's editor only outputs tags that survive Amazon's parser.
| Tag | What it does | Amazon support | Recommended? |
|---|---|---|---|
<b> / <strong> | Bold emphasis on key benefits, materials, dimensions | Allowed | Yes |
<i> / <em> | Italic emphasis. Use sparingly. | Allowed | Yes |
<u> | Underline. Readers mistake it for a hyperlink. | Allowed | Skip |
<h1>–<h6> | Headings for section structure | Inconsistent | H2/H3 only |
<p> | Paragraph break | Allowed | Yes |
<br> | Line break (single line, no spacing) | Allowed | Yes |
<hr> | Horizontal rule between sections | Allowed | Yes |
<ul> / <ol> / <li> | Bullet and numbered lists | Allowed | Yes |
<img> | Inline images | Stripped | No. Use A+ Content for images. |
<a href> | External links | Stripped + can flag listing | No. Links violate Amazon's Terms of Service. |
<table> | Tabular data layouts | Stripped | No. Use A+ Content modules. |
<style> / inline CSS | Custom styling | Stripped | No |
<script> | JavaScript | Stripped + can suppress listing | Never |

What is the character limit for an Amazon product description?
All Amazon marketplaces cap the description field at 2,000 characters. Some categories enforce stricter limits inside that ceiling.
Sweet spot: 500–1,500 characters. Description fields under 500 characters miss long-tail keyword coverage. Descriptions stuffed to 2,000 characters with thin filler degrade conversion. Sequence's editor flags both extremes in real time as you write.
What are the most common Amazon product description mistakes?
We've managed $500M+ in revenue across 100+ brands. These are the errors that show up in most audits.
Do this
- Match your title keywordsEvery word in your title should appear once or twice in your description. A mismatch wastes an indexed keyword.
- Lead with the benefit, not the brandMobile users see ~120 characters before they tap "Read more." Make those count.
- Use short paragraphs and bullet pointsEven though the field allows 2,000 characters, scannable beats dense every time.
- Include dimensions, materials, compatibilityAnswer pre-purchase questions in the description and you'll cut returns and negative reviews.
- Write native copy for each marketplaceGerman, French, Japanese, and Italian listings each need native copy.
Don't do this
- Don't keyword-stuffRepeating a keyword three or more times reads as stuffing. Once or twice per primary keyword is plenty.
- Don't use
<img>,<a>, or<table>All three are stripped. Links can flag your listing for ToS review. - Don't paste from Word or Google DocsHidden formatting characters break Amazon's parser. Always paste through a plain-text or HTML editor first.
- Don't duplicate your bullet pointsThe description should expand on your bullets, not repeat them. Unique text gives A10 more to index.
- Don't claim "Amazon's #1 Choice" or "Best Seller"Amazon suppresses listings that make unverified marketplace claims, which means lost revenue and suspension risk.
