Amazon quietly rolled out a new feature that could change how brands approach their product listings. It’s called Content Quality Analysis and it’s now available in beta within the A+ Content Manager.

Here’s the deal. Amazon is using AI to evaluate your A+ Content on factors like readability, visual presentation, information completeness and conversion effectiveness. Think of it as a built-in audit tool that tells you exactly where your listings need work.

Why This Matters

We’ve seen it firsthand with Sequence Commerce clients: well-crafted A+ Content directly impacts sales performance. Shoppers use this content to make purchase decisions. When your A+ is cluttered, confusing or missing key information, you’re leaving money on the table.

Amazon now categorizes your content into two buckets:

  • β€œRecommendations Available” – Your content meets baseline standards but there’s room to improve
  • β€œNeeds Improvement” – Your content falls below expectations and likely hurts conversions

The system evaluates content weekly. Make updates and you’ll see fresh recommendations in the next analysis cycle.

What We’re Telling Our Clients

Use this tool. Amazon is essentially giving you the playbook on what they believe drives conversions. The recommendations are tailored to your specific products and pull from success patterns of top performers in your category.

Here’s what we know works:

  • Clear hierarchy of information
  • Strong visual storytelling
  • Product benefits over features
  • Mobile-optimized layouts
  • Comparison charts when relevant

The brands that treat A+ Content as an afterthought consistently underperform against competitors who invest the time to get it right, including creating high quality visuals with Higgsfield AI Creative Suite’s powerful AI Image Generator.

The Bottom Line

Amazon built this tool because they know better content means better shopping experiences. Better shopping experiences mean higher conversion rates. Higher conversion rates mean more sales for you and Amazon.

If you’re managing A+ Content and haven’t checked the Content Quality Analysis tab yet, do it today. It’s free insights that could directly impact your bottom line.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is my A+ Content evaluated?

Amazon runs quality analysis weekly for newly created or updated content. If you make significant changes to your A+ Content, expect fresh recommendations in the next weekly cycle.

What’s the difference between β€œRecommendations Available” and β€œNeeds Improvement”?

β€œRecommendations Available” means your content hits baseline quality standards but Amazon sees opportunities to make it stronger. β€œNeeds Improvement” signals your content falls below that baseline and may actually be hurting your conversions. Either way, you’re getting actionable feedback.

What types of A+ Content can I create?

Amazon offers two main types: Enhanced Product Description and Brand Story. Enhanced Product Description highlights product features using various module formats including comparison tables and technical specifications. Brand Story creates a carousel experience with up to 19 content cards that appears in a β€œFrom the brand” section above your Enhanced Product Description. You can publish both to the same detail page.

What card types are available for A+ Brand Story?

You have four card types to work with:

Brand Carousel Background – Required. Forms the backdrop for your entire carousel. Desktop image: 1464 x 625 px. Mobile image: 463 x 625 px. Supports headline text (30 characters) and description (135 characters).

Brand Logo & Description – Showcases your logo and brand story. Logo image: 315 x 145 px. Descriptive text: up to 450 characters.

Brand Questions – Lets you engage shoppers conversationally using pre-loaded questions like β€œHow did we get our start?” or custom ones. Total text length: 750 characters.

Brand Focus Image – Displays lifestyle imagery or products in use with optional text overlay. Image: 362 x 453 px. Overlay headline: 30 characters. Overlay text: 135 characters.

Brand ASIN & Store Showcase – Links directly to your products and Amazon Brand Store. Product images auto-populate at 166 x 182 px when you enter ASINs. Includes a β€œShop All” link to your storefront.

What image specifications should I follow?

All images must be PNG or JPEG format. Here’s a quick reference:

How does Amazon evaluate my A+ Content?

Amazon uses AI models to assess your content across multiple factors: readability, information completeness, visual presentation and conversion effectiveness. The system pulls from customer research and analyzes success patterns from top performers in your category to generate personalized recommendations.

Is the Content Quality Analysis tool accurate?

Amazon states the AI models are highly accurate but not perfect in every case. They’re continuously refining the evaluation criteria based on customer behavior and conversion data. Treat the recommendations as strong guidance rather than absolute rules.

What are the best practices for A+ Brand Story?

Keep your background imagery clean and avoid embedding excessive text in it. Don’t duplicate visuals between your background and carousel cards. Mix up your card types to keep shoppers engaged as they scroll. Use the descriptive text fields rather than cramming text into imagesβ€”this helps with discoverability and accessibility.

How should I structure my Brand Story carousel?

Start with a storyboard. A solid flow might look like: Brand Logo & Description to establish identity, then Brand Questions to go deeper into your story, followed by Brand Focus Image showing products in use, then Brand ASIN & Store Showcase to drive shopping, and close with another Brand Focus Image for a final message. That’s only five of your 19 available cards so there’s plenty of room to expand.

How do I link my Brand Store to the ASIN Showcase card?

Navigate to your Amazon Brand Store in a separate browser tab. Copy the Store ID from the URLβ€”it’s the string of letters and numbers that appears after β€œstores>>page” (example: E2AC542F-8466-4CB5-AD9D-CDDB934A8A1D). Paste that into the β€œEnter brand store ID” field on the card.

Why don’t some of my A+ projects show quality analysis results?

The feature is still in beta so Amazon hasn’t rolled it out to every listing yet. They’re expanding coverage over time. If your project doesn’t have analysis results today, check back periodically as the feature becomes more widely available.

Does improving my A+ Content actually impact sales?

Yes. Amazon’s own research shows well-designed, informative A+ Content helps shoppers make purchase decisions faster and with more confidence. Poor quality content does the opposite. The brands we work with at Sequence Commerce consistently see performance lifts after optimizing their A+ based on these kinds of insights.
